Covid-19 Measures


Please be aware we are following all new government rules.

  • Got symptoms? Please self-isolate and get tested. 

  • All customers must wear a face covering when entering the building and/or walking around the restaurant. Face masks can only be removed when customers are sat down eating or drinking. Face masks must also be worn by staff.

  • Hand gel is provided for you to sanitise your hands upon arrival.

  • You must provide us with valid track and trace information. Either by scanning the QR code and completing your details online or by providing details to our staff. 

  • Upon arrival, please wait to be seated.

  • Table service only. Food and drink must be ordered from, and served at, a table.

  • The rule of 6. No groups larger than 6 will be allowed.

  • In accordance with local lockdown rules, you must not socialise with people you do not live with - unless they are in your support  bubble.

  • By law, we must close by 10pm. Accordingly, last orders for food and drink will be adjusted to ensure that all customers have physically vacated the premises by 10pm.

In these challenging times, we all need to do our bit to ensure that we are all kept as safe as possible.

NB: all measures are subject to change.

At the Canton Chef, the following changes will apply for the safety of both guests and our team:

  • There will be hand sanitizers around the restaurant, including at the entrance for customers and staff to use.

  • We will have a member of staff working full-time to sanitize contact points during opening hours.

  • Smaller party sizes and a  limited number of bookings will be available to allow for safe social distancing.

  • A one-time paper menu will now be used.

  • A reduced menu will now be served.

  • Foodservice times may take longer than usual due to restrictions. 

  • Following government guidance, we are required to take the details of customers who dine at the restaurant.

  • Allotted time slots for reservations will be maintained - with allocated table time aimed at: (1) balancing the need for customers to enjoy themselves and have a good experience; with (2) the restaurant's need to keep customers and staff safe, whilst turning tables to help offset the reduced capacity in the restaurant.

  • We need to allow time in between diners for cleaning to take place.

  • Reservations are preferred - by using our online booking enquiry form or by calling us on 01484 666 966 (during opening hours). However, depending on how busy the restaurant is - drop-ins may still be possible.

  • Depending on circumstances, a non-refundable deposit of £5 per person may be required at the time of booking.

NB: as circumstances are constantly evolving, the measures in place will need to change accordingly.

Please be assured, all of the procedures being implemented are designed to enhance the safety of guests and staff. Please, work with us to help ensure the safety and well-being of us all.
